And the World Moves On...

While Spain and Canada both pass Gay Marriage Rights this week, the US still hasn't figured it out. It's NOT about religion, morals, or the "destruction of society"...it's about CIVIL rights. Bushie continues to support a ban on gay marriage. The thing that irks me is that Bush actually came out a few weeks before the Nov '04 election and supported civil unions (not marriage, but some would see as a step forward). He's clearly pandering to the religious right who pay his 'bills'. Americans need to WAKE UP and realize that our government, like all others in the world, are corrupt and powered by greed and money.

I believe this is their strategy: support ban on gay marriage and use fear (yes, again) to drive Americans to push (at the state level) for constitutional amendments to ban gay marriage. In order to do this, it has to be voted on by the citizens of that state. Whenever an issue like this goes to a mass vote, the outcome is almost always terrible. Imagine if interracial marriage went to a vote??? It would have NEVER passed. Where would we be in our fight against racism??

News Flash: Americans Unhappy with Bush

A big holla back to all the idiots you voted for Bush in November. Just months into his second term, a new poll finds Bushie's approval ratings at an all new low:

*42% of those polled are satisfied with Bush's overall job performance.
*Only 25% approve of Bush's handling of social security!

Another newsflash, Iraq is a total mess and Americans know it:

*51% of those polled think we should have stayed out of Iraq.
*Only 37% of those polled approve of Bush's handling of Iraq.

The only area Bush seems to do somewhat okay is in his "handling of war on terrorism". 52% approved of his work here. To me, this is a stroke of pure luck for Bush. He's done little to protect our country from another terrorist attack. Sad, but true, they (the nut job terrorists) are just waiting to attack again.

FURTHERMORE...information has popped up that Bush and Blair conspired together back in 2002 to invade Iraq. It's called The Downing Street Memo. Check it out.

John Coyers, US Rep-D from Detroit, is standing up to Bush, along with 88 other House members to challenge Bush on this new piece of information. Go to his website and sign his petition if you have a chance.

I love Bill Maher

Read this, Bill Maher is totally on point.

No PBS or NPR?

Republicans are looking for new and improved ways to eliminate diversity and different opinions in America. So much for free thinking. Go here to sign MoveOn petition to prevent the House from pushing their conservative agenda on America.

Shocker: Texas hates fags

Andy Towle reports on how Governor of Texas, Rick Perry, suggested over 66,000 gay and lesbian veterans living in Texas move away. Nice, really nice. Just another example of how the Republican Party continues to play into the hands of the Conservative/Religious Right.
Message to Gov. Perry: Those fags and dykes went to Iraq to protect your freedoms (or to keep the cost of gas down, whichever way you look at it), so that YOU wouldn't have to. Maybe you should move away....to Antarctica.

Rent, the Movie

Would this be considered a guilty pleasure?? I'm sorry, but I can't help but be anything but excited for the movie to premiere on Nov 11.
The trailer was just posted online yesterday.
Most of the cast from the original Broadway production are in the movie.

Complaining Pays

As a follow up to my posting about complaining a few weeks ago, I recently experienced another success...this time, with American Airlines. While traveling to Germany earlier this month, my first flight out of NYC to London was delayed by about an hour and half due to a mechanical problem. This set off a chain of events that culminated in a shitty travel day. I complained to American about this when I got back and cheers!-they gave me a 15,000 mile credit to my AA account. Shout out to American Airlines. Holla back now.

I'm Alive

It's true, I'm alive. A few random thoughts:

*Why does anyone really care if Tom Cruise is gay or not. I mean, hello?? Is there a question anyway. He totally is. And Katie Holmes should be so lucky to have the Dawson's Creek days back.

*The American Family Association is back up to their old tricks. They are now calling for a boycott of Ford and Kraft. Ford advertises to the gays and Kraft is sponsoring the 2006 Gay Games in Chicago. Honestly, don't you have anything better to do? Clearly not.

*Everyone needs to help Laura find a job. Laura-I think you should write trivia questions for board games. Anyone have any other ideas?
